PROJECT LANCIA
Plans for the Car
Plans for the car:
Although there was some discussion about making the car street legal, plans are to keep the car track-only. Once completed, it will be taken to car shows and maybe a few track days.
Strip the car, bodywork, repaint, and rewire. Lots of cleanup and detail work to make the car look good.
The goal is to have the car finished for ItalianCarFest 2007.
What to do for the engine?
Ideas have included a turbo 2 liter, supercharged 2 liter, bore a 2 liter out to 2.2 liter, turbo 2 liter with later 4-valve head conversion, source a mostly original race motor or a Lancia Delta Integrale motor.
Well, Jerry has acquired an engine.
It is a 2 liter Lancia Volumex engine brought over from England with lots of headwork and heavy-duty internals.
It was assembled and tuned by Robert Rodgers of ShadeTree Enginetrics (more technical details later).
Jerry and Garrick went to Houston 1/27/07 to pick up the engine from Stan Ramirez.
See a few pictures below.
Loading the engine into the van in Houston. We were assisted by fellow Fiat enthusiast Wayne Mausbach.
A couple pictures of the engine in the van.
The supercharger and Weber carb.
The original sloping rear hatch was no longer with the car, so Jerry made a mold and had one made from fiberglass.
It has a place for a plexiglas rear window.
It is also designed to replace the original metal sail panels and when installed will fit on the sides down to the top of the fender panel.
A picture of the mold and a couple of photos of the rear hatch before finishing and plexiglas.
